PRIVATE SECTOR

Diana Giraldo is the Business Development Director at E3 Building Sciences, she is actively involved in community development projects that impact livability and sustainability for sensible real estate development design, performance, best green construction practices/certifications, and construction quality control; a passion she has been practicing for decades.

PUBLIC EXPERIENCE

Diana moved to SWFL in 2006; she worked for the City of Fort Myers for 8 years in the Community Development Department giving her depth of experience in the internal operations and functions of our City.

Actively involved in the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization, her leadership resulted in positive system changes in the way we visualize and plan Lee County as a community.

In 2019 she was appointed to the City of Fort Myers Mayor’s Diversity and inclusion advisory committee.

COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE

Diana Giraldo is the Co-founder, President, and CEO of Streets Alive of SWFL, a local non-profit dedicated to creating safe places for cyclists and pedestrians in SWFL. In partnership with Lee County, Diana’s organization successfully championed the completion of bike paths and sidewalk extensions in Ward 6, creating safe, off-street, passage for children and families to neighboring schools, shopping, medical services, and community spaces. 

She is passionate about community engagement, and understands the power of inclusive community development. Her understanding of the financial impact of workforce housing began in her leadership role at “Women Build” for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge in Louisiana, where she personally identified with the impact of housing that is safe and affordable for working single moms as a single mom herself.

VOLUNTEER WORK

Volunteering is Diana’s way to fulfill a deep desire for community wellbeing and to pay it forward in the land where all is possible; a way to learn the perspective of others, their story, their passion, and with this in mind a way to connect the dots to make our community the best it could be. Some of her numerous roles include: Community Sustainability Advisory Committee, SWFL Community Foundation; Chairwoman, Run to the Arts; Operations Leader, ArtFest Fort Myers; Mentor, Foundation for Lee County Public Schools; News-Press Editorial Board; News-Press Young Professionals Advisory Board; guest columnist for the News-Press, Women’s March Fort Myers 2020, Keynote Speaker
